EPM technology have disclosed expansion plans that will enable one of Britain’s fastest growing composite businesses to break onto the global market.
Since its inception in 1996, EPM has quickly established itself as one of the UK’s top 5 composite suppliers and following a restructure of the business and a series of acquisitions, sales have grown from £350,000 to £5.5 million in just two years.
Now operating from four sites and employing over 140 people, EPM are responsible for supplying lightweight engineering and manufacturing solutions to many of the leading F1 and World Rally teams. EPM has grown through the strategic development of dedicated centres of excellence, responsible for all aspects of the firm’s operations.
Speaking at this year’s Autosport International show, Graham Mulholland, Managing Director, EPM Technology said:
“Over the past two years EPM has steadily evolved to become one of the largest providers of composites in the UK. During this time we recognised that if we are to continue to remain at the forefront of our industry it is essential for us to break onto the global stage. Areas like Asia and Eastern Europe in particular are enjoying something of a manufacturing boom and by targeting these regions we can exploit our unique engineering formula to bring about the latest technical skills, combined with practical solutions that provide both innovation and quality. We plan to open a number of new sales and engineering offices across the world, allowing us to penetrate new markets. The first of which will be launched very soon. By looking globally, we are proving that British industry is continuing to lead the world and remains highly competitive in areas like the automotive industry.”
The move will help to consolidate the midlands-based company within the global market place, allowing British Engineering to be showcased across the world.
EPM also unveiled theSS3 at this years event which is a collaboration with Juno Racing.
The SS3 is a powerful lightweight racing car that will bring Formula One composite technology into mainstream motor racing for the first time.
Launched at this years Autosport 2005, the unveiling of the SS3 was proof of the successful combination of EPM’s technology’s unusual composite design and Juno Racing’s brand of racing technology.
At it heart of its innovative design, is the use of complex composite panels that not only reduce the weight of the car significantly, but also giving dramatic improvements in aerodynamic performance. Underneath all of this Formula One style technology, lies a Mountune prepared 400bhp V6 Jaguar engine, combined with its six speed F1 flat shift paddle system, it has shaved over a second off its predecessors lap time.
2005 will see the SS3 test its new bodywork on the Britsport championships, and hopes to build on the success of its predecessor.
