Eastman Chemical Company announced an off-list price increase for all forms of Eastman NPG glycol in North America, effective July 1, 2000. Prices for 100 percent molten and flake NPG glycol will increase $0.09 per pound with a $0.045 per pound competitive allowance. NPG-90 glycol prices will increase $0.08 per pound with a $0.04 per pound competitive allowance. A competitive allowance is a discount off an off-list price for an unspecified time. The company reports that manufacturing costs and raw material prices have increased significantly. This price increase is needed to begin moving margins toward reinvestment economics. Eastman NPG glycol, a resin intermediate, is a basic raw material used in the manufacture of polyester resins for fiberglass reinforced plastics (FRP).
