EADS and Hexcel have signed a Master Agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding for the procurement of strategic materials, part of EADS’ global Sourcing Strategy that has been launched across the company.
The Master Agreement signed between EADS and Hexcel is replacing all existing contracts and extending them until 2006, therefore offering a harmonized contractual environment for the business. The Master Agreement covers the supply of Prepregs, Fabrics, Resins, Adhesives, Honeycombs and Special Process Partscomposites.
The MoU paves the way for enhanced performance in the relationship between Hexcel as a supplier and EADS as a customer, to better meet end-market requirements. The resulting improvements are cornerstones for the implementation of a “Competitive Partnership” between EADS and Hexcel regarding materials procurement.
The EADS Sourcing Strategy aims to build a long-term relationship with suppliers that are willing to develop sustained, excellent performance to meet the market needs more effectively. It facilitates the implementation of a deeper, privileged relationship between EADS and its best suppliers, called “Competitive Partnership”.
“EADS has singled out Hexcel for its existing performance and improved capabilities that enable it to contribute to give our products the necessary competitive edge and to fully meet our customers’ satisfaction. EADS wants to encourage long-term cooperation between its business units and their best-in-class suppliers to ultimately form a new type of relationship called ‘Competitive Partnership’. This exercise has been started with key suppliers since mid 2001 and will keep developing with a few more industry leaders in the next few months. “We are particularly satisfied to sign this MoU with Hexcel”, said Hans-Erich Mundt, Senior Vice President Corporate Sourcing at EADS.
“Hexcel is proud and delighted to have been selected to sign this MoU with EADS. We accept it as recognition of our efforts to continually improve our customer service, quality, technical innovation and overall performance as a supplier of composite materials to EADS. The MoU strengthens our customer/supplier partnership and is an acknowledgement of the growing importance of composite materials in current and future aerospace programmes” said William Hunt, President of Hexcel Composites Business Unit.
