DSM Composite Resins has launched a new resin system, called Palapreg Premium, for the Class A exterior SMC-BMC applications in the automotive industry.

This new development heralds a breakthrough reduction of VOC emission, bringing total emissions of the SMC application down to around 100ppm, according VDA 278.

DSM say that, on top of the environmental advantages, the new Palapreg Premium resin also offers a complete system solution for the industry, which translates to faster dosing and shorter cycle times. In addition Palapreg Premium gives significantly improved surface quality and is fully online paintable making it ideal for large exterior body panels.

The emission reduction development program was spearheaded by the DSM Competence Center for SMC/BMC, based in Ludwigshafen.
