Composix, the US manufacturer of vehicle armour, has selected Dyneema HB26 to fulfil an order from a major US Department of Defense contractor for a high-end armour system.
Dyneema HB26 unidirectional (UD) bullet-resistant composite offers a combination of light weight for enhanced vehicle mobility, manoeuvrability, and ballistic performance versus new, and emerging unconventional threats such as IEDs and EFPs. Composix will produce hard ballistic armour panels with Dyneema for about 1000 vehicles.
Dyneema HB26 is a construction of several layers, with the direction of fibres in each layer placed at 90° to the direction of the fibres in the adjacent layers.
