DSM provided the resins and application technology used to build the solar car, which travelled from Darwin to Adelaide, Australia, in less than five days.
The 2013 race saw 40 teams from 23 countries compete. Amongst them was the Nuon Solar Team with their vehicle, Nuna7. DSM state that during the early stages of development its Somos stereolithography materials were used for rapid prototyping. The materials were used in several of Nuna7’s lighting and power system components.
Nuna7’s shell was manufactured using DSM’s Daron resins, optimised for use with Textreme carbon fibre.
DSM said it was extremely proud of their involvement in this accomplishment and is delighted for all the team involved in Nuna7.
