BETAMATE structural adhesives from Dow Automotive Systems have been named a silver winner by the 2015 Edison Awards, an annual event recognising products and people that deliver game-changing industry innovations.
Dow says that nominees are evaluated on concept, value, delivery and impact – each criteria mirroring the known innovation guidelines of Thomas Edison himself.
“BETAMATE structural adhesives are customised to contribute to sustainability, safety and efficiencies in transportation manufacturing – all of which are highly valued by our customers,” said Dow Automotive President Steve Henderson. “For example, BETAMATE is enabling the development of lighter weight vehicles around the world and more than 7 billion metres of BETAMATE have been applied since it was introduced more than 15 years ago. The lightweighting capabilities of BETAMATE have already contributed to an estimated 2.65 billion gallons of gasoline savings, which also brings 23 billion kilograms of carbon dioxide reductions.”
Dow claims that, with five products named finalists, it received more nominations than any other company.
