Dixie Chemical has launched a bio-based reactive diluent designed to replace or reduce styrene in many polyester and vinyl ester resin systems.
According to Dixie, the product is a methacrylated fatty acid (MFA) and was developed through extensive research and testing by the United States Army Research Lab and Drexel University. They say MFA offers an advantage over other alternative monomers with low viscosity, low odour, minimal volatility, increased fracture toughness, and 60% bio-based content.
