DIAB has signed a partnership agreement with Nexam Chemical to develop a unique, high-performance PET foam that incorporates Nexam Chemical’s NEXAMITE technology.

DIAB explains that the collaboration, which begins in 2016, is aimed at creating a long-term supply agreement that will be mutually beneficial to both companies.

“As a leading producer of high-performance foam, we at Diab are delighted to see this partnership come to fruition,” says DIAB’s Group CTO, Magdalena Sandström. “Nexam Chemical’s technology, combined with our solid know-how of foam manufacturing, paves the way for a new generation of foam for this highly attractive market.”

According to DIAB, Nexam Chemical develops technology and products that make it possible to significantly improve the production process and properties of most types of plastics cost-effectively and with retained production technology. The improved properties include strength, toughness, temperature and chemical resistance as well as service life. This makes it possible to replace metals and other heavier or more expensive materials with plastics in a number of applications.

”NEXAMITE technology is effective and creates significant improvements in the properties of PET foam,” says Anders Spetz, CEO of Nexam Chemical. “The growing market for PET foam is an important area for Nexam Chemical, and with our technology we are paving the way for improvements in other types of foam as well. We’re excited to be working with DIAB.”
