Structural core materials specialist Diab has officially opened its new core manufacturing operation in Chennai, India.

The actual opening ceremony took place in late March with the ‘ribbon cutting’ being carried out by Anders Paulsson, CEO of the Diab Group.

Diab’s decision to manufacture in India is as a result of the unprecedented demand in Asia for the company’s structural core materials and also the signing of a long-term supply agreement with one of Diab’s major global customers represented in the region.

In addition to producing the core, the new facility also features an extensive range of finishing equipment to process the blocks into finished sheets, apply various finishing options and produce customer-specific core kits.

Diab now has block production operations in Europe (Sweden and Italy), the USA and Asia. In addition the Diab Group has a balsa production operation in Ecuador and standalone finishing/kitting operations in Australia, China, Lithuania and Thailand.

Commenting on the new facility, Anders Paulsson, CEO of the Diab Group, said “The new Chennai manufacturing operation further adds to Diab’s unrivalled coverage of the Asia-Pacific region with combined production, sales and technical services facilities in four strategic locations. This continues to build upon our ‘local support’ model of having Diab’s products and services delivered locally to meet our customer’s individual needs.”
