Nicolai Wammen from Denmark’s Minister of Defence and Leif Lahn Jensen, a Member of the Danish Parliament, visited Terma’s company in Grenaa, Denmark.
Terma says the two politicians, who are both elected in the local area, were introduced to its aircraft production with the use of carbon fibre and composite materials. Terma’s CEO, Jens Maaløe, and General Manager of the Grenaa Company, Ole Graversen provided a guided tour of the high-tech manufacturing areas.
A meeting with the company’s union representatives and a discussion of employment and training was also on the agenda. During 2015, the Danish Parliament is expected to decide that Denmark will acquire new fighter aircraft to replace the current F-16s which Terma says could result in it creating 200 new jobs over the next five years.
Apprenticeships were also on the agenda. Terma explains that it currently has 19 apprentices employed – but also 12 vacant apprenticeships, e.g. as Data Technician, Electronics Technician, and Plastics Maker.
