Airtech Europe and Assocompositi together completed the moulding of a FIV 555 school boat by resin infusion live during the Seatec conference.
Assocompositi initiated an international cooperation with the material suppliers needed for a resin infusion demonstration. More than 300 visitors attended and appreciated the high quality of the demonstration which was the major event of the “2nd symposium on the construction technologies of leisure boats”.
The hull, normally moulded by wet lay-up as a single skin construction, was re-engineered into a thin skin cored construction, moulded in a single shot resin infusion process. This re-engineering is aid to have yielded improved fibre volume fraction, better mechanical performance, reduced styrene emissions, reduced weight and reduced resin usage.
