Cytec Industries recently completed commissioning of an $18-million production unit at its Kalamazoo, Mich., site that will produce a line of polymers for its Cytec Engineered Materials business.

These polymers are a key component in the production of Cytec composites used by some of the most demanding applications in commercial and military aviation. The product qualification process with customers has begun.

“There is growing demand for many of our advanced materials,” said President of Cytec Engineered Materials Steve Speak. “The new facility will boost and secure our supply of this critical system component. The site’s reputation for high quality—combined with its outstanding delivery record—will ensure that we meet customers’ exacting requirements today and into the future.”

Construction activities, started in August 2005, were completed in May 2006 and commissioning of the unit was completed June 2006.
