At the EICMA 2018 motorcycle trade show, Energica Motor Company introduced the Bolid-E prototype, featuring parts manufactured using CRP Technology’s Windform XT 2.0 carbon composite material.
It is part of the Italian Smart Ride project, headed by Samsung Electronics Italia in collaboration with Energica, to offer a new way of experiencing motorbikes. A development of the electric Eva EsseEsse9 (the Best Electric Bike of the Year 2018), Bolid-E is a fast, futuristic motorbike showcasing Samsung’s technologies and Energica’s expertise.
Bolid-E features parts manufactured by CRP Meccanica and CRP Technology, companies specialising in subtractive manufacturing (high precision CNC machining) and additive manufacturing technologies (3D printing and Selective Laser Sintering with Windform composites materials).
Components manufactured by CRP Technology include the front and back headlights/tail light support. For the construction of the front and back headlights support, Energica designers relied on Selective Laser Sintering technology and Windform XT 2.0 carbon composite material, both supplied by CRP Technology.
