In response to last year’s success, SAMPE’s Fall Technical Conference will once again present the latest information in nanocomposites.

“Last year’s nanoconference success set the stage for an even more developed program this year,” SAMPE President Raymond Miller said. “”We have surpassed our ordinary standards of high quality offerings and expanded the program to cover additional areas of interest as requested by our members.””

Unique discussions led by leading technologists, researchers and industry users, include:

  • An overview of current state-of-the-art in nanocomposites research and development will be provided by a Nanocomposites Technology tutorial. Critical challenges and strategies in the development of nanocomposites will be discussed.
  • A three-part session about “Nanomaterials / Nanocomposites”, with topics ranging from high temperature applications to processing and characterization.
  • “”Space Applications”” and “”Nanocomposites: Technical Challenges and Solutions”” are two highly anticipated sessions, which are offered this year.
  • “”Nanoconstituents: Which one is right for you?”” This panel will cover the many different types of nanoconstituents available to provide multifunctional capabilities for use in next generation aircraft and other high-performance equipments such as ground vehicles, aircraft engines, spacecraft and civil transport.
  • “”Health Safety and Risk Management of Nanomaterials”” While many forums have addressed the broad issues surrounding nanoparticle safety and health, this panel seeks to outline key focus areas and create an open discussion regarding this important topic.
  • “”Fibre reinforced Polymer Nanocomposites”” Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) nanocomposites have begun transition from mere hype to real applications. This panel will review the technology transition taking place across the aerospace industry.

The 3-1/2 day conference will be held at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, Texas from November 6-9, 2006.
