Composites Industry Faces Additional Resin Price Increases

A number of resin price increases have been made this week from Resolution Speciality Materials, AOC Resins, Reichhold, Interplastic, Cook Composites and Polymers, Ashland and Ticona.

Resolution Specialty Materials (RSM) are to increase prices by $.05 per pound for all unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins. The increases apply to all products shipped on or after Monday November 15, 2004.

AOC will increase prices by US$300.00 per metric ton all vinyl ester resins sold in Asia shipped on or after November 1, 2004. AOC will also increase prices by US $0.05 per pound on all unsaturated polyester resins and gel coats, and US $0.15 on all vinyl ester resins sold in the United States and Canada shipped on or after November 15, 2004. This is in addition to the increase effective October 4, 2004.

Reichhold are to increase prices by 150 € (Euro) per metric ton (0.15€/Kg) on all of its products sold to the Composites industry in the EMEA region (Europe / Middle East / Africa). This adjustment is in addition to all previously announced increases and is effective for all orders shipped on or after November 22, 2004.

Interplastic Corporation’s Thermoset Resins Division is raising the prices of CoREZYN and Silmar brand products. All polyester, vinyl ester, specialty resins, gel coats, colorants, and putties will be increased by $0.05 per pound for shipments of these products on or after November 13, 2004. This increase is in addition to the previously announced increase of October 16, 2004.

Cook Composites and Polymersis to make a $0.05 per pound price increase on all unsaturated polyester resins, vinyl ester resins, and gel coats, effective November 15, 2004.

Ashland Composite Polymers is increasing the price of its unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins, gel coats and low profile additives by 5 cents per pound for North American customers. This adjustment will be effective with shipments on and after Nov. 19, 2004, and is in addition to all previously announced increases.

Ticonais increasing its prices effective December 1, 2004 of its acetal copolymer, polyester, long fibre reinforced thermoplastics, polyphenylene sulfide and liquid crystal polymer products. Ticona have made a number of varying prices increases for their products and customers are advised to check consult the Ticona website for full details.
