The appeal of using new materials in design was confirmed during the JEC Design Workshop on July 4th, the first one to be organised by the JEC Group in Paris.

About thirty people – designers, producers, processors, users and composite professionals – participated in a very interactive and convivial meeting. They observed the fabrication of a composite part by the RTM Light process and attended talks by a number of designers and their suppliers on how composites contribute to the creation of design parts. Participants were able to view and handle these parts (lightweight concrete, sport helmet, composite replicas).

The JEC Design Workshop in Paris was so successful that other meetings are in the pipeline. The next JEC Design Workshop will take place in Munich (Germany) on October 12, 2006 during the Materialica trade show (October 10-12, 2006), where the JEC Group will be represented as an exhibitor. A number of German designers will be there to talk about the extraordinary breakthrough of composites in design and the benefits they have reaped by using them.
