Componeering Inc. has released a new version of ESAComp software for structural analysis and design of composites. ESAComp 2.0 combines basic laminate analyses with analyses of structural elements, such as plates, beams, bonded and mechanical joints, all under one unified user interface. ESAComp can be used for both initial design and detailed analyses of laminated composite structures including sandwich constructions. Two-way interfaces for major finite element packages integrate ESAComp as part of the design cycle. The design tools help in selecting materials and finding optimal laminate lay-ups to meet the various constraints and objectives given by the designer.

ESAComp development was initiated by the European Space Agency ESA in 1992. Since the release of the first commercial version in 1998, ESAComp has got a foothold in some major aerospace companies and research institutes. Also other industries utilizing high-performance composite structures are starting to take advantage of ESAComp.
