Cobra International is launching the Cobra Composite Structures (CCS) business unit which will manufacture large composite structures for the architectural and mass transport markets.
Cobra, a manufacturer of composite components for the watersports, automotive, marine and luxury sectors, says the new business unit has been created in response to customer demand for its product development expertise, production efficiency and quality focus which will be applied to large structural composite parts such as roofs, facades, bridges and components for rail, bus and truck applications. Lightweight advanced composites deliver design freedom and faster installation in architecture as well as providing fuel savings and efficiency gains in transport applications. Cobra will support customers from initial design concept through to the finished composite structure.
The CCS business unit will operate from dedicated facilities at Cobra’s 100,000 m2 facilities in Thailand. Headed up by Paul Scholten, CCS will also work closely with Cobra’s Design and Development team.
Cobra holds both ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/TS 16949:2009 (automotive) certification. In addition, the company reports it has recently committed significant research and development investment into fire resistant composites and sustainable materials – two important drivers in Cobra Composite Structures’ key markets.
Cobra Composite Structures says it is already working on a number of orders including the components for a specialist vehicle project to support airport ground operations, as well as light bridging solutions.
