Clariant will present its non-halongenated, phosphinate-based Exolit OP range and Exolit AP range of flame retardants for transport and construction applications at JEC Europe from stand B25, hall 7.3.

Clariant explains that through effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability and performance, its flame retardants fulfill key requirements and regulations of both of these sectors.

Designed initially for the demanding and innovative applications of the electronic and electrical markets, the Exolit OP range, the company says, offers high thermal stability and excellent property profiles at comparably low dosage also for challenging transport applications, such as railway rolling stock and airplanes.

Clariant states the Exolit AP range, based on Ammonium Polyphosphate, represents state-of-the-art quality with tailor-made formulations for various thermoset resins used in fibre-glass reinforced composites for construction and transportation.

According to Clariant all products are fully compliant with current WEEE and RoHS regulations. The portfolio on-show at JEC Europe includes the following.

  • Exolit OP 1230 for high performance polyamides (HPPA);
  • Exolit OP 1240 for polyesters (PBT/ PET), thermoplastic elastomers (TPE);
  • Exolit OP 1312 / OP 1314 for polyamides (PA 6, PA 66);
  • Exolit OP 930/OP935 for epoxy based- laminates, adhesives for printed circuit boards and TPE;
  • Exolit AP 422, Clariant’s benchmark quality ammonium polyphosphate; and
  • Exolit AP 740, Exolit AP 742, Exolit AP 766 tailor-made intumescent formulations for thermoset and thermoplastic systems.

“Clariant is committed to supporting the increasing need for safer fire protection based on more environmentally-compatible and sustainable solutions. With our new Exolit products we make our best effort to capture these requirements in application-specific grades,” comments Adrian Beard, Head of Marketing for Flame Retardants at Clariant. “We see exciting potential for our Exolit product range within the transport and construction sectors, in addition to the E&E sector”.
