epm: technology group are very proud to have hosted a VIP visitor, the honourable Mr. George Osborne – Chancellor of the Exchequer.
The visit to epm’s technical centre, based at Draycott, Derby, UK, has been a build up to the local elections on May 2nd.
Graham Mulholland commented, “Our industry has been very lucky and fortunate enough to have the ear of the Government right now. High Performance, added value engineering for F1, Aerospace, Automotive and Defence markets are seen as key areas for UK plc to grow and for the government to support. All our efforts to support these activities have built up to the prestigious visit. We should be very proud that our voice is heard in Whitehall and we are attracting visitors from London, to our region.”
Mulholland continued, “I did joke at our year end that with all the corporation tax we have paid compared to other high street names, we should have a visit from the treasury to say well done! I did not expect this to be the Chancellor in person.”
epm has recently bought out a seed investor for 2.3m and are now in final negotiations to invest a further 6m in to the company, to future proof the business for the next 15 years.
Mulholland continued further, “It has been a real opportunity to touch on the topics SME’s have difficulties with i.e. skills, finance, red tape and consistency. We also shared our plans for growth over the next 3 years with the Chancellor, as we grow epm and get ready for our next 15 years.
“What a brilliant day my team and I had, having the chance to share and explain our thoughts and ideas to the Chancellor.” concluded Mulholland.
George Osborne stated epm was a ‘one to watch’ company and any business wanting to grow and employ more staff and make a difference in their sector deserved Government attention. George Osborne commented, “We have got strong policies in place, helping businesses like epm: technology and we are doing all we can to do more, not less.”
