Together with Pia Hüther, and the mayor of Kaiserslautern, Bernhard Deubig, the managing director of COMAT GmbH, Dr. Ralph Funck, made the first symbolic cut for the building of new production facilities.

COMAT is building a new office- and production facility with 2.500 m² due to very demands on the DExWin® products. It is a well known fact, that fiber reinforced plastics based on thermosetting resin has extremely good properties as regards to strength, rigidity and low weight.

These materials have been used for decades in aerospace, industrial and sport applications. However, an increasing demand has focused fiber composites based thermoplastic resin, in order to be able to use the significant properties of thermoplastic resin. These properties are: High fracture toughness, high chemical resistance, post formability , recyclability and weldability.

COMAT GmbH has developed a innovative technology, called DExWin®, for producing continous pipes and profiles based on thermoplastic resin, which compared to traditional fiber reinforced components, additionaly offers the above mentioned properties and has the same strength, stiffness and lightweight properties. COMAT GmbH has options for further 22.000 m² of land for future expansions.
