Century Design (CDI) has developed the CD6019 towpreg machine to provide customers with the capability to produce towpreg in-house.
According to CDI, this development will allow customers to gain more control of materials, logistics and processing while also providing opportunities for cost reductions related to material costs, logistics, and manufacturing. The price reduction will make towpreg a much lower overall cost option when compared to wet winding allowing towpreg to be used in applications where cost is the driving requirement, the company says.
CDI explains that the CD6019 towpreg machine is well suited for small to medium sized composite part producers as it has a small footprint will allow it to be installed in most facilities without the need for major upgrades and only requires basic power and air. The machine has automated controls making it easier to operate, provides consistent process control between production runs through the use of ‘stored recipes’ and provides data collection to allow for the analysis and control of all key processing parameters.
Key features of the machine include:
“We are very excited about this new phase of development and opportunity to allow our customers to get control of their materials,” comments Keith McConnell, President of CDI.
