Components made with Less Mass, Higher Stiffness & better damping make machines faster, more accurate, cut more metal and lighter meaning machines require smaller motors and will consume less energy; CompoTech says its Carbon Graphite Damping Technology can achieve these Material Properties.
CompoTech, of the Czech Republic, has been researching and developing manufacturing processes for Carbon Graphite Composite application to machine building for 5 years. The process for creating cellular graphite carbon fibre beams was augmented with damping technology in 2009 and since then the many problems of integrating the required systems, attachments, bearings and connections have been worked on to solve the particular requirements of individual applications.
CompoTech says there are many interdependent parts in contemporary automated machines and it is not easy to substitute a metal part for a composite part without setting off a whole chain reaction of other design changes. This is especially true when optimising the performance of a machine to take advantage of the much better properties of Carbon Graphite Damping Composite. Those Machine Builders who are fortunate enough to be in the position to take advantage of CompoTech Technology have found significant productivity advances.
