Goodrich CTG (GCTG) is building a new 137,000 square foot UK Composite Centre of Excellence in which will consolidate the five current sites into two.

GCTG explain that building works have just started for the new Centre, which will be essential to further their ability to innovate new products in their current industries: aerospace and defence, advanced vehicle technology, clean energy technology and medical imagery industries; as well as in new industries.

GCTG have designed the layout to see output increase per square foot by more than 80%, wasted space lowered by more than 30% and improved linkage and flow increased by 50% in comparison to the old sites. They expect the new Centre to attract talented new staff and provide state-of-the-art facilities for current staff to maximise their potential.

Dominic Cartwright, Managing Director, said the development is important for the future growth of Goodrich CTG “The new development not only makes our operations more streamlined and effective, it also helps us build for the future. We have exciting growth in all market sectors that we support. This investment will enable us to position the business for long term growth. Innovation is at the heart of the business and being one step ahead of the competition is critical.”

“Creating the Composite Centre of Excellence means we will be bringing together teams that have previously worked on different sites; improving the teamwork and synergy between departments for the benefit of Goodrich Actuation Systems and the wider Goodrich organisation.”

The UK Composite Centre of Excellence is due for completion in July 2012.
