Advanced Composites Group engineers will be demonstrating live “”Boat in a Box””, featuring the advantages of selecting prepreg technology for boatbuilding construction.

ACG will demonstrate that with the new generations of infusion type prepregs, high quality finish can be achieved directly out of the mould, with little or no additional preparation for marine polyurethane external finish.

Using an oven constructed from a simple wooden crate the demonstration will help dispel the myth that expensive autoclaves or ovens are required to use prepreg technology.

A section of a dinghy will be laminated and cured showing the ease and practicality of using the VTM260 prepregs system; they are clean and simple to cure at 180F for four hours using low-cost equipment.

With carefully controlled fibre volume fractions the boat builder can have complete confidence in knowing that a laminate produced using prepregs will have the correct resin to fiber volume fraction.

VTM260 is the only Lloyd’s-certified prepreg system available throughout the globe and has been used in the construction of a variety craft from America’s Cup yachts to sports-fishing boats. When used with the Crystic GC260 gelcoat system, a good-quality surface finish is easily achieved. ACG prepregs and gelcoats give you the technical advantage!
