Bayer MaterialScience Bayer Inc have strengthened their collaboration with Pultrall, the manufacturer of pultruded composite profiles for such markets as automotive, medical, utilities, agriculture and construction.
The collaboration seeks to capitalise on the combined expertise of Pultrall and polyurethane systems marketed through BaySystems, according to Mario Guenette, sales manager, Pultrall, and Harry George, head, Diversified Industries, New Applications, NAFTA, Bayer MaterialScience..
“We’re delighted to be strengthening our relationship with Bayer MaterialScience, a respected and market-leading polyurethane provider,” said Guenette. “Our companies are a good fit because we share a mutual interest in the importance of investing in research and development to spur continued innovation for the benefit of industry and our customers.” Canada-based Pultrall has had an ongoing relationship with Bayer MaterialScience for five years. The relationship was boosted when BaySystems supplied Pultrall with Baydur PUL 2500, a two-component liquid polyurethane system for use in composite manufacturing, Guenette said. “Several industry experts have shown great interest in pultruded composite parts that use the Baydur product,” Guenette said. “It’s not surprising why – the material stands out from competitors because of its resilience, impact resistance and strength.”
“The Baydur system also enables us to avoid using mats or wovens in profiles,” Guenette said. “Using the polyurethane resins system as the transfer reinforcement material enables us to make the profile with zero degree reinforcement, which is more cost efficient.”
