Bayer MaterialScience has received the “Bio-based Material of the Year 2015” Innovation Award for the first bio-based polyurethane crosslinker for high performance automotive coatings.
The organiser, Nova Institute, explains that, for the eighth year running, the Innovation Award “Bio-based Material of the Year” is awarded to the innovative bio-based material industry, finding suitable applications and markets for bio-based products. It says that the competition focuses on innovative materials and products, which have had (or will have) a market launch in 2014 or 2015. The prize was awarded by Nova Institute and sponsored by Coperion, at the “8th International Conference on Bio-based Materials” in Cologne, Germany on 13 April 2015. With 220 participants from more than 20 countries, it is claimed to be one of the biggest conferences in the world, gathering the latest developments in the field of bio-based materials and providing an excellent platform for networking.
Six bio-based materials and products were nominated for the Award by the advisory board out of 24 submitted products. The nominated companies were from the United Kingdom, United States and Germany. In a 10-minute presentation, each nominated company explained their innovative materials and products to the audience. The three winners were elected by the participants of the conference and awarded with the prize at the dinner buffet.
