Barracuda Advanced Composites has started a co-operation program with INCOM Ingenieria de Compuestos to offer products and technical services focused on core kitting technologies and production in order to support the wind market in Brazil.
According to Barracuda, the new business will support the high demand of structural core materials with major customers in the region. It claims that the Brazilian windpower sector is expected to install 15-18 GW of new power generation in the next 5 years and is poised to surpass natural gas in terms of installed capacity and assume its place as the second largest power source in the country by 2018.
INCOM’s experience in kit cutting further adds to Barracuda’s unrivalled portfolio in the South America region for sales of composite raw materials and technical services to meet customer’s individual needs. The new capabilities include an extensive range of finishing equipment to build complex customer-specific core kits. The investment is further evidence of Barracuda and INCOM commitment to the South America region.
Since 1997 INCOM has been dedicated to engineering and production of core kits and through the expansion of its infrastructure, and acquisition of technology, is committed to a continuous development of its production systems. During the past decade, INCOM has expanded into a total area of 15,000 sqm distributed among the Elda (Spain) factory, Goleniow (Poland) and Andover (United Kingdom).
