Automated Dynamics announced the development of a new, high speed process for fabricating thermoplastic composite pressure vessels.

The new patent pending process provides thermoplastic composite pressure vessels that are cost competitive with thermoset composite pressure vessels, recyclable and offer greater toughness and chemical resistance. The process involves modification of existing filament winding equipment and requires no curing ovens or use of messy thermoset resins. The process is faster than thermoset fabrication, eliminates volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) from the work environment and requires up to 50% less manufacturing floor space. Reduced variability and outstanding fiber property translation may potentially reduce material usage by 30-40%. Automated Dynamics is looking for partners interested in licensing the technology and purchasing fabrication equipment for selected market segments.
