The Canadian grant follows on the heels of being granted U.S. Patent No. 6,773,773, Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe Manufacture.
“We are pleased with the grant of the Canada patent,” said Robert Langone, President of Automated Dynamics. “Automated Dynamics has always been an innovator in automated robotic winding (ROWS) and automated fiber placement (AFP) technologies for manufacturing high-performance, advanced composite structures. This new patent demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement and being an industry leader.”
Automated Dynamics say that the patented process allows for economical volume production of tubular thermoplastic composites, primarily for use in the oil and gas industry and benefits include minimisation of weight, lower cost, improved corrosion resistance, greater damage tolerance and spoolability.
