The Latin American Composite Materials Association (ALMACO) is organising the event Pultrusion – Innovations, Solutions and Trends at the Petrobras Research Center (CENPES) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 23 August.
“The objective of the meeting is to reinforce the benefits of using pultruded composites, to show their compliance with technical standards and to detail some global cases of applications similar to those that Petrobras needs,” says Erika Bernardino, Manager of ALMACO.
Energy company Petrobras employs pultruded profiles in the form of floor gratings, handrails and guardrails, but there are other uses catalogued around the world, such as specialised pipes and poles.
ALMACO´s event will consist of six lectures presented by specialists in raw materials used in the manufacture of pultruded composites, including resins, reinforcements (glass and carbon fibres) and structural adhesives. About 50 engineers, specifiers and managers of several Petrobras units are expected to participate.
“It will be an excellent opportunity to publicise the composite materials and, at the same time, to know the demands of Petrobras in detail when it comes to pultrusion,” Bernardino adds.
