ALMACO, the Latin American Composite Materials Association, has announced its action plan for 2017, where, in addition to the traditional courses at the Composites Technology Centre (CETECOM), which is managed together with the Institute for Technological Research (IPT), ALMACO will also organise several activities focused on generating new business.

“After doing a series of surveys with our associates, we found out that their two most pressing demands are developing operational staff and building a closer relationship with composite parts consumers,” said Erika Bernardino, ALMACO Manager.

To address the issue of technical development, ALMACO says it will offer 16 courses at CETECOM over 2017. Topics will range from introduction to composites to stress analysis, as well as going over the details of various moulding processes, such as infusion and RTM. “As for the market approach, we will have a special event called Creativity Day, where moulders will be able to make use of CETECOM’s structure to release new products and give live demonstrations,” Bernardino commented.

ALMACO has also arranged breakfast events at CETECOM for distributors of raw materials. “These will be opportunities for companies to showcase their products.” Moreover, with the intent of co-operating towards better management practices at the associated companies, many lunch meetings are being scheduled for the upcoming months. “The first, on 26 April 2017, will discuss corporate culture and performance.”
