Netherlands-based Airborne International has acquired 100% of the share capital of Aviation Enterprises, based in the UK.
Through this acquisition, Airborne says it strengthens its international position in the composites market for Marine structures. AEL has a strong network in the UK, as well as extensive technical expertise and a solid Intellectual Property portfolio in the field of Marine Composites.
Arno van Mourik, Founder and CEO of Airborne International, comments on the acquisition, “Airborne has been successfully working together with Aviation Enterprises on several projects in the marine market over the last two years. We are impressed by the expertise and dedication of AEL’s team. Our close co-operation led to a major achievement in 2014 – the successful award of the contract to design and manufacture tidal blades for the Raz Blanchard pilot tidal farm, for which General Electric Renewable Energy (formerly known as Alstom Ocean Energy) will deliver several tidal turbines in 2017. With the acquisition of AEL by Airborne, AEL’s application know how and IP for tidal blades as well as its strong network in the Marine market in the UK will be combined with Airborne’s networks and capabilities to industrialise production.”
“Combining our 20 year experience with composites development and subsea structures in particular, with Airborne’s industrialisation agenda, will allow AEL to consolidate and complete the comprehensive service which we offer through to industrialisation and volume production,” said Angus Fleming, Founder and MD of Aviation Enterprises.
