Aerotech Precision Manufacturing has invested in new manufacturing equipment to support and strengthen its involvement in a major defence project. This will allow the company to reduce lead times and supply the required components within an AS9100 quality controlled environment.

The scope of Aerotech’s involvement in the project includes the manufacturing of a variety of intricate machined parts under stringent quality conditions. The company has been involved in this defence project since 2013 and to date has supplied over 170 kits. To achieve the demands of the project, Aerotech has invested over £350,000 in total in a five-axis machine from Doosan along with a large co-ordinate measuring machine.

Aerotech supply the kits to local defence systems company Aish Technologies for further processing onto the final customer, a major defence contractor.

“This project is significant for us as it demonstrates the expertise and capability Aerotech has in delivering precision engineered high quality components to the defence sector,” comments Allan Redfern, Sales Director at Aerotech. “The investment in new equipment we have made signifies our commitment to not only this project but also in our goal to become one of the UK’s leading precision manufacturing sub-contractors.”
