The 2004 JEC composite exhibition in Paris attracted greater numbers of international visitors, with more exhibitors than expected.
At the close of the 2004 Show, there were 5% more exhibitors, with 890 companies represented (compared to 850 in 2003), including 75% from abroad. There were also 10% more visitors: 22,591 people compared to 20,332 in 2003. The JEC Composites Show is becoming increasingly international, with 86 different nationalities represented: 58% of all visitors came from abroad. Finally, 126 journalists (+ 18%) visited the Show this year.
“”Our objective is to continually add value to the Show for exhibitors, visitors, and the news media. To this end, we designed new high-value-added products and services,” declared Frédérique Mutel, General Manager of JEC, which organises the event.
For the 2004 show, JEC introduced some new features that further enhanced the appeal of the show, such as the SMEs Discovery Village to promote the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises. There was a new Education and Skills Village which facilitated dialogue among schools, universities, research institutes, and the industry. Finally, there was also a new Aeronautics area unveiling a series of structural parts for the most recent international aircraft programmes.
“”This year, JEC commissioned a market survey called “Structure and Dynamics of the Composite Industry”. A summary of the survey was presented to the press and made available to all composite industry players. Each year, we develop new products and consolidate day after day the synergy between our different media sources: website, magazine, forums, awards, trade show, while constantly improving their efficiency. We are dedicated to furthering the composite industry, which, thanks to our media products, now has an international network at its disposal,”” said Frédérique Mutel.
According to the poll that was taken at the Show, most participants expressed their satisfaction with the efforts of the industry and the JEC group regarding such aspects as the relevance of the new parts unveiled at the stands, the launching of new products, the User Forum conferences (Aeronautics, Automotive, and Marine) and the JEC Awards innovations.
