3A Composites has improved key material properties – stiffness and strength in compression as well as shear – of its AIREX T92.60 core material.
The company says this upgrade means AIREX T92.60, a closed-cell thermoplastic rigid foam, now qualifies for new applications. In marine, the product fulfills the requirements of ISO 12’215 and DNV/GL rules for ships and it also meets major wind turbine nacelle specifications.
“We are excited to continue evolving our strong AIREX T92 series and delivering new solutions that respond to our customer needs,” says Eric Gauthier, President of Global Key Accounts at 3A Composites Core Materials.
3A Composites‘ resin-saving surface option, SealX, coupled with AIREX T92, is said to reduce the material‘s resin consumption in infusion processes by almost 40%.
According to the company, the AIREX T92 manufacturing process results in a structural core material with very consistent properties. The foam can be thermoformed, and is heat resistant.
