3A Composites, through its Airex brand, now owns the extended FSC certification for the manufacture and sale of structural core materials and interior panels based on 100% FSC-certified balsa veneer.
Based on its extensive resources of around 10,000 hectares of balsa plantations in Ecuador, the global player now offers more solutions that are customised to the market.
3A Composites says balsa combines characteristics such as strength and stiffness, a necessary combination for sandwich constructions used in numerous applications, from wind-turbine blades to construction. With its customer-oriented market strategy, 3A Composites continued the development of, and investment in, the industrialisation of balsa manufacture in Ecuador and in Sins, Switzerland. Structural core materials and interior panels based on balsa veneer can be used in marine, furniture and architectural-interior applications.
For 3A Composites, the commitment to sustainability is also important for innovation and continuous improvement. Owning the entire balsa product cycle from seedling to finished material, 3A Composites can guarantee unrivalled process and quality controls, both in its own work and in cooperation with the FSC.
Roman Thomassin, CEO of 3A Composites Division Core Materials states, “Our customers can truly rely on our drive for improvements – for their own benefits. FSC’s certification of our location in Sins is the result of our consequent improvement strategy of relevant processes. Being and remaining a reliable partner is the top priority of our business.”
