3A Composites Core Materials and WINDnovation have entered into a strategic cooperation regarding further improved core materials and sandwich solutions for wind applications.
Decreasing Cost of Energy is a key driver behind the development of new rotor blades for wind turbines. 3A and WINDnovation intend to join their competences to further improve future rotor blade design. 3A explains it brings its wide portfolio of AIREX and BALTEK cores as well as its undisputed leadership in development and design of these materials whilst WINDnovation adds the crucial blade design and system integration expertise allowing this partnership to innovate in a very fundamental yet comprehensive approach.
According to 3A, first goals will be the optimised design of extra-large blades as well as extremely long blades for low wind regimes. Roman Thomassin, CEO of 3A Composites Core Materials highlights “To assure a continued market success, the wind energy market needs some significant, value-adding innovations. Our cooperation with WINDnovation aims to take out both cost and weight from current blade design”.
