Airtech Advanced Materials Group is introducing three new high temperature vacuum bagging materials for thermoplastic moulding processes up to 427°C.
Thermalimide RCBS is a high performance release film treated on both sides. It is suitable for cure temperatures up to 405°C and is said to be ideal for use during processing of thermoplastic materials and in other high temperature applications. The product is reported to offer excellent release off cured parts, so that the film comes off easily and quickly, and flexibility for applying pressure over simple contoured shapes.
Fast Tack HT is a sealant tape for applications up to 427°C and it builds tack quickly when applied to Thermalimide. Good room temperature adhesion to the bagging film reduces the time required to vacuum bag high temperature parts. The tape adheres well to polyimide films and is said to provide improved high temperature performance versus legacy products.
Airweave UHT 300PGL and Airweave UHT 450PGL are nonwoven-blended fibreglass breathers for ultra-high temperature applications. Both products are designed for use with high temperature thermoset and thermoplastic resin systems. The nonwoven breather construction is reported to be superior to woven fibreglass and maintains vacuum levels at temperatures up to 427°C.
