Michelman Highlights Fibre Sizing’s Impact on Composite Performance at JEC World 2018

27 February 2018

For the first time, Michelman will showcase its expanding portfolio of fibre sizing solutions with its own booth at JEC World 2018.

The company will showcase Hydrosize, its versatile line of fibre sizing that allows customers to tailor the surface chemistry of reinforcement fibres to the chemistry of the matrix resin, thereby optimising the interface adhesion between the polymers and fibres. This improved interface adhesion helps fibre producers and composite manufacturers produce stronger, lighter and more durable composite parts.

Michelman offers a diverse selection of sizing solutions that are optimised for a broad range of thermoplastic and thermoset resins, including high temperature matrices. The company’s fibre sizing can be applied during the manufacturing process of chopped or continuous strand fibreglass, carbon fibre, natural fibres and fillers, or post-applied when making nonwoven and composite prepregs.

Visit Michelman in Hall 6, Stand K83 at JEC World 2018.

Vyncolit and Sumitomo Bakelite Summit Highlights Need for Lightweighting Powertrains

Powertrains, be they conventional, hybrid or fully electric, will need to be light in weight if carmakers are to meet the stringent regulations on carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) to come into force in 2025 – and composites will be key to making this happen. This was the message highlighted at the Lightweight Composite Solutions Conference organised by Vyncolit and Sumitomo Bakelite Co Ltd and held in Gent, Belgium.
