Industry trade association Composites UK has named Tom Rockwood as Apprentice of the Year at its annual awards dinner on 1 November.
Rockwood, who has been employed at Sigmatex for just over a year, is part way through an HND in Mechanical Engineering and works within the Maintenance Team. Since joining the business, he has become an integral part of the team and has worked on some high-level projects within its Runcorn site, the company says.
“Tom is Sigmatex’s first Higher Level Apprentice and we’re very proud of his achievements to date," says Helen Symonds, HR Manager at Sigmatex. "Tom’s enthusiasm, maturity, commitment and overall hard work is a credit to our business. Tom has a wonderful potential and is an inspiration to both the young and old within our team at Sigmatex and we’re really glad that he has been recognised by Composites UK for his achievements.”
Sigmatex, a manufacturer of carbon fibre textiles for composite applications, was also announced as the winner of the Sustainability award for its efforts in developing a recycled carbon fibre product which utilises its production waste stream.
Cobra International will showcase a range of composite products at CAMX 2018, including carbon fibre components for the automotive, transportation, marine, water sports and luxury sectors.
The Metyx Hungary factory, located in Kaposvár, has recently expanded its warehousing facilities, adding an additional 3,024 m2 of enclosed storage space for composite technical fabrics, packaging and FRP tooling.
A skateboard, architectural panels and a rigid roof for boats, all built using Chomarat composite reinforcements, will be on display at CAMX 2018.
