Gazechim Composites Ibérica, Magnum Venus Products and AIMPLAS have established Composites360, a partnership designed to foster the use of composite materials.
The aim of the collaboration is to organise events to provide information on the use of composite materials and promote new applications. The first event was a workshop in April, which focused on the use of high-performance composite materials manufactured by closed mould processes for application in the automotive, transport and aeronautics sectors. Speakers discussed materials, product design, quality, process optimisation and manufacturing costs. A demonstration showcased the production of parts by RTM, including the use of polyester-type resins and epoxy with glass and carbon fibres.
Training centre iMET has welcomed the first Composite Technician apprentices at its new multi-million pound facility at Alconbury Weald, UK.
Joinlox and the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia, have received the JEC Asia 2018 Innovation Award in the Civil and Infrastructure Engineering category for their easy fit, self-locking composite jacket for structures repair.
Prodrive Composites reports that it is enabling Overfinch, the creator of bespoke Land Rover vehicles, to significantly increase production capacity by supplying consistent, high-quality carbon fibre components.
