Gurit Wins Body Panel Contract from Italian Car Maker

06 June 2017

Gurit has won a new contract for the production and supply of carbon fibre exterior body panels to an Italian premium automotive OEM.

The two-year contract is worth around CHF9 million and supplies are scheduled to start in January 2018.

As part of the contract, Gurit will supply carbon fibre-based hoods and further exterior body panels for the high performance car. The parts will be manufactured with Gurit's patented press technology and are based on a new material and design concept. Gurit's Composite Engineering department was involved in the structural design of the parts, including finite element analysis (FEA) for mechanical loading performance and head impact predictions.

The parts will be produced at Gurit's Hungarian plant.
