Dow Automotive Systems Receives Prestigious Recognition for SPEXFLEX Activ Additive Polyols

Dow Automotive has been recognised for the innovative development of SPECFLEX Activ additive polyols for polyurethane foam on the 50th anniversary of EUROPUR, the European Association of Flexible Polyurethane Foam Manufacturers.

The event was organised in cooperation with the polyurethane trade media ‘Urethanes Technology International’, published by Crain Communications.

Dow Automotive explains that it was honoured as runner-up in the award ceremony in Brussels (http://www.europur.org/events) and recognised for the development and commercialisation of polyurethane foam additives that reduce or even eliminate the need for amine catalysts and increase sustainability benefits. The new polyol family was implemented in cooperation with key customer partners.

It explains that SPECFLEX Activ enables unique foams with different new properties and processing advantages for Tier suppliers (very open TDI  foams, crushing ease, excellent flow and mould filling, extremely high over- packing tolerance ) including easy handling. The main OEM advantages are: fully compliant PU foams including Physical Mechanical Properties & Ageing Low emission (VOC’s, Amines Content) & Odour as well as Density advantages from TDI.

Foams made with SPECFLEX Activ can be applied in different vehicle interior applications, including seats and help OEMs and tiers meet continuously tighter requirements on interior vehicle emissions and odour while meeting physical mechanical specifications including aging.
