As composites pave the way for market penetration in different applications every year, it is important that composite manufacturers keep supporting designers in their design process, composites provide design freedom, aesthetics and/or properties that cannot be achieved with more conventional materials.
Whether the challenge in design is weight, size, shape or aesthetics, composites can provide the solution, and Exel Composites says it is the perfect partner from ideation to implementation to mass production.
According to Exel, explains its Australia and PT Architectural Technology departments have developed a light yet strong concept for a 3D roof structure with composite tubes. Unlike conventional materials like steel or aluminium, composite tubes have a bending radius of up to 6 meters enabling design freedom. Rounded wave-like shapes can be seen in a project realised in Byron Bay, Australia, home of a new 5-stars beachfront resort.
Exel explains that Extremis is a Belgian outdoor furniture company and brand. It says it is known worldwide for supplying its furniture to the most trendy hotels, museums etc. Marina picnic table was an exciting new application in a market where customers wanted something totally different.
Exel says it is to be part of an exciting Australian art project, the MPavilion, a digital forest performing an evening ritual at sunset. Sunset Ritual is a collaboration between Matthias Schack-Arnott (Speak Percussion), architect Amanda Levete and lighting designer Ben Cobham of bluebottle.
