Bell Helmets has launched its new Pro Star helmet reinforced by TeXtreme; its lightest and strongest shells ever.
According to Bell Helmets, since 1954, they have been at the forefront of head protection in the world of motorsports. For 2016, Bell set out to re-establish its flagship model in the motorcycle market with the introduction of the Pro Star. Bell sought to reduce the weight of the shell by as much as possible and through incorporating TeXtreme into the layup, the weight of the shell of the Pro Star helmet was reduced by 21% without sacrificing any mechanical properties.
Chris Sacket, VP of Bell Powersports, says, “For the new Pro Star we wanted to take shell technology to the next level and by using the ultra-thin TeXtreme carbon fibre material we managed to engineer our best shell ever. The unique characteristics of the TeXtreme material enabled us to reduce 1/5 of the weight and still have the same high level of performance.”
TeXtreme Spread Tow carbon fibre reinforcements is used in a large number of sports and competitions: Formula 1, NASCAR, IndyCar, Le Mans, Bicycles, Ice Hockey, Surfing, Rowing Shells, Golf, Tennis, Skis, Snowboards. Alongside the Sporting Goods industry, TeXtreme is also used in a wide variety of Aerospace and Industrial applications.

Cameron Beaubier is a Grand Prix motorcycle racer from United States who competes in the AMA Superbike Championship. Cameron won the 2015 Superbike title and is using the Pro Star.
The Pro Star helmet was introduced at the AIMExpo in Orlando, 15-18 of October 2015, and will also be showcased at the EICMA show in Milan 17-22 of November 2015. The retail launch is planned for spring 2016.
Products reinforced by TeXtreme in general get 20% lighter than when using other carbon fibre materials and reduces weight without sacrificing strength or stiffness.
