British Manufacturers’ organisation EEF may be reporting that the sector has lost momentum in recent months (The Guardian, June 1st 2015), but Skipton-based manufacturer Fibrelite continues to demonstrate UK manufacturing: providing innovative, highly engineered GRP composite manhole and trench covers with quick delivery to customers.
Managing Director Ian Thompson explained, “What sets us apart in our sector is that we manufacture our highly engineered composite products here in the UK to meet our customer’s individual needs and our experienced technical support team are always on hand to provide support. And what was once a niche product is now increasingly specified by project managers who appreciate the multiple advantages of choosing composite manhole covers over metal and concrete in both new and retro-fit work. In fact the composites market is growing so fast, it will reach a value of around $90 billion by 2020.”
“In response to this increasing demand we recently launched what is now the most comprehensive choice of trench cover sizes available in the market to sit alongside our custom-made service. Our standard widths now range from 300mm to 1000mm; lengths 600mm to 1800mm; and there are 3 depths: 50mm, 76mm and 117mm. All Fibrelite covers offer the best strength to weight ratio in the industry, allowing for maximum load bearing and durability (tested to BS EN 124). In fact the Fibrelite F900 load-rated trench cover - launched last year - remains unique in the market place.”
Fibrelite says its composite manhole covers are now industry standard on petrol station forecourts, having been first installed as far back as 1980, and the company claims that they are now tried and trusted in over 80 countries in facilities as diverse as data centres, water treatment plants, power stations, pharmaceutical plants, hospitals, university campuses, shopping centres and housing developments – not forgetting London zoo and a specialist water treatment system recently installed in Antarctica!
Additional manufacturing facilities in the US and Malaysia have allowed the company to deliver quickly and economically to customers around world.
