Airbus Defence and Space Joins the Altair Partner Alliance

Airbus Defence and Space has joined the Altair Partner Alliance (APA), bringing airframe structural analysis and verification to HyperWorks users with the addition of STRENGTH2000.

According to Altair, STRENGTH2000 is a toolbox for performing strength and stability analyses which meet aerospace standards, as well as generating stress reports for certification purposes. For many aerospace companies and suppliers, STRENGTH2000 simplifies the strength and stability assessment of metallic and composite structures to adhere to various industry and handbook standards. The framework provided by STRENGTH2000 can also be extended to include proprietary in-house methods.

“Airbus Defence and Space is pleased to offer STRENGTH2000 to HyperWorks users through the Altair Partner Alliance,” said Dr. Gerd Schuhmacher, Senior Expert at Airbus Defence and Space. “Our software will be very useful for aerospace stress engineers in the Altair community. Advantages of STRENGTH2000 include lead-time reduction and the significant reliability improvement of strength and stability analysis tasks. Long-term reproducibility of results is also extremely important in order to support upgrades as well as maintenance and repair during decades of aircraft in-service operation.”

Altair explains that STRENGTH2000 supports detailed sizing and analyses the stresses on metallic and composite aircraft structures. The software provides efficient, reliable, and traceable workflows for strength and stability analysis, and is able to support fast sizing studies as well as check stress and qualification tasks.

“STRENGTH2000 is the commercial evolution of an Airbus Defence and Space proprietary code developed over the past several years by experienced aerospace engineers,” said Dr. Pietro Cervellera, Altair Germany Managing Director. “It is widely used to support the certification of famous aircraft like the Eurofighter as well as components of the A400M, the A380, and other civil Airbus aircraft, offering Altair customers unique value in terms of reliability and promises dramatic time savings.”

Altair claims the software solution combines validated analysis methods, geometry data (CATIA), finite element results, material data, internal loads analysis, and a mature graphical user interface for airframe development and in-service support.

It reports that its HyperWorks platform applies a revolutionary subscription-based licensing model in which customers use floating licenses to access a broad suite of Altair-developed, as well as third-party, software applications on demand. The Altair Partner Alliance extends the HyperWorks Platform from more than 20 internally developed solutions to upwards of 60 applications with the addition of new partner applications. Customers can invoke these third-party applications at no incremental cost using their existing HyperWorks licenses. Customers benefit from unmatched flexibility and access, resulting in maximum software utilisation, productivity and ROI.
