Chem-Trend has achieved the AS9100C global certificate of registration for its quality management systems at two manufacturing facilities in Howell, US.
According to Chem-Trend, the NSF-ISR recognised its Grand River and McPherson Park plants for conforming to the AS9100 requirements for aviation standards. It explains that this certificate of registration validates the plants’ quality management programs.
“By receiving this certificate of registration at two of our locations, Chem-Trend is demonstrating its continued commitment to the international standard for the aerospace industry,” said Devanir Moraes, Chem-Trend President and CEO. “Chem-Trend has a long-standing history of placing a significant priority on quality manufacturing processes. This certificate acknowledges that our quality management system adheres to rigorous global scrutiny.”
Chem-Trend says that AS9100 is a widely adopted and standardised quality management system developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group. It encompasses ISO 9000, with additional requirements for quality and safety specific to aerospace. Manufacturers and suppliers in the aircraft and aerospace industries embrace AS9100 as a global standard and a critical tool for improving quality and on-time delivery within their supply chain. Most companies in the aerospace industry endorse or require certification to AS9100 as a condition of doing business.
“NSF-ISR certification provides all stakeholders assurance that a manufacturer’s quality management system complies with the technical requirements of the referenced standard,” said Moraes. “This is especially critical now, as the industry becomes even more global and manufacturers face the challenge of purchasing products from suppliers throughout the world.”
Coriolis Composites has been selected by the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State University (WSU), US, to provide a thermoplastics capable Automated Fibre Placement (AFP) system.
Boeing and Thermwood have employed additive manufacturing technology to produce a large, single-piece tool for the 777X programme. The project is demonstrating that additive manufacturing is ready to produce production quality tooling for the aerospace industry.
